End of 2009 season
I finished my 2009 bicycling season with my normal 21-mile commute on Tuesday December 1st. The riding conditions were excellent. 30 degrees and dry.
Now, Winter has arrived. It's time to pause on my gardening & biking hobbies, and get out the snow shovels, and winter activities.
It was a fun year of outdoor hobbies! Here's a tally of a few memories:
--> Best scenery: Penninsula State Park, Wisconsin. (July 10. With Jean & John)
--> Best outdoor sounds:
...Frogs in ponds along Sakatah trail. (May 2 ride to St. Peter, MN)
...AND geese & ducks at Trempoleau, Wisconsin's bird sanctuary. East of Winona. (Day #2 of Madison trip)
--> Hottest day? None! (2009 was a cool summer)
--> Rainiest day? Ironman Ride in Lakeville. (Sunday, April 26).
--> Number of flat tires? 1
--> Roadside / Truck bungee cords found? 6
--> Fun purchase for biking: Headlight / Tail lights for Laura's night riding at Gustavus College.
--> Creative repair: Used www.skype.com to coach Laura through a bicycle brakes repair :)
--> Best downhill:
...Minnesota Highway #99 into St. Peter,
...AND Crossing Baraboo Wisconsin bluffs. (Day #3 of Madison trip).
--> 2009 mileage: 1,400 miles
