"Patten pear" tree

24 seasons ago, Jean and I moved to our hobby farm and got a little orchard.  Apple, plums, cherry, and 2 pear trees!   Our old Patten pear grows a huge crop of pears EACH year!   In it's prime, it yielded 6-10 bushels of pears annually.  Very impressive for a 30 year-old tree!   We eat fresh pears, give some away, and can many for the winter.

In ourJune 1998 wind storm, we lost our majestic 200 year old oak tree, and the Patten pear lost 40% of it's branches.   Still, the tree continues to produce!

I hope it gives us one more year...
