I attended a big Confirmation Mass on Friday night at St. Dominic's, with retired Archbishop Harry Flynn. Laura was a sponsor for Becky Endert. Our choir sang, with the Children's Choir. It was uplifting... especially the song "Thanks Be / We Shall Overcome".
My Saturday today will get me setting out my biking equipment, and clothing. One inch of rain and 40 degrees is predicted. I made several trips to bike shops this week looking for fenders, and I'm still fender-less. Instead, I ordered a set for my Madison trip. And I'm tuning up my old Schwinn Varsity, which HAS FENDERS as a possible "rain bike" !
A quick flashback:
------------------
My first 10-speed bike was loaned to me from my brother Paul in my Freshman year at St. Thomas. Then, Mom & Dad bought me a similar Yellow Schwinn Varsity in 1976. I clocked 4,000 miles on this bike's odometer before the odometer broke. My yellow Schwinn completed 3 Ironmans. It was cool to install a new wireless odometer (computer) on it this past week.
And those nice fenders!!!
In gardening, we planted potatoes & onions, and tilled the garden. Our first red tulip and a few dandelions started blooming with Thursday's 80 degrees. Then, the hollowing winds circled back to the North, and we found a breezy 39 degrees this morning.
The "Ironman" will be held in rain, sun, or whatever we get. I better finish getting ready.

p.s. Lakeville newspaper had an article about the Ironman. See one of these links:
