“Warm hands and feet!”

Ironman ride 2009:
------------------

I woke up today with 39 degrees, drizzle and 15 – 20 MPH East winds. I chose their Lakeville / Rosemount / Farmington loop at 30 miles. See map-->

I knew about the challenging weather. This route circled 3 lakes. Between 7:00 till 9:00AM, all went well. Then, the skies opened up to a downpouring rain. Now I had “the wind at my back” for the last 8 miles, like the Irish proverb. That free push felt good. The rain felt weird. In downtown Lakeville, I rounded the City hall corner by CornerStoneCopy, and I was tempted to ring George & Maureen's doorbell? Not; I longed for my dry clothing in my van, and a warm shower, so I kept moving.

My bike, clothing and body worked swell! I was proud that my new wool socks, nylon booties, gloves and interior cap, all helped keep my hands and feet WARM. This is an old measure of comfort in atheletics is to “keep your extremities warm”.

Jean spoiled me & Laura to a great warm lunch. And Jean baked a fresh cherry pie with a golden crust. Mmmm!

Dad called after lunch. From Burnsville, he wondered if I made it okay? We chatted for 20 minutes. He had guessed the weather conditions well. We talked about Madison on May 11th.
